The UI of OS X was called “Aqua.” Under the close supervision of Jobs, the Apple design team (led by Cordell Ratzlaff) sought to completely overhaul the dominantly gray interface of the classic Mac OS, as well as its contemporaries. System setup:
Mac Mini (2010)
Dell U2410 (1920x1200)
One monitor is connected via HDMI and one monitor is connected via DisplayPort. Both monitors suffer from an over saturated red. This seems to be due to the monitors being wide gamut display. I have tried configuring new ICC profiles, but nothing seems to help. I noticed that the monitors are both using YPbPr color format. If I use the HDMI-DVI and plug in the monitor it switches to use RGB color format. As I understand it RGB mode forces the monitor to emulate sRGB which is a standard gamut. In this mode the colors appear fine. I don't have the DisplayPort-DVI adapter to test that, but I plan to pick one up.
The Mac Mini sees to be working correctly since I have tested a Dell 2408WFP via DisplayPort and the color is good. The Dell U2410s are working correctly since I can connect a Windows machine via DisplayPort and they look fine.
The problem seems to be with Mac and support for wide gamut displays.
I've called Apple support and the video specialist just beat around the bush claiming to have never heard of wide gamut displays. His ultimate idea was that HDMI could not support a high enough resolution for the U2410 and when I brought up the fact that this issue effected both HDMI and DisplayPort he ignored me and talked about HDMI again.
Does anyone have any input or ideas?
