In summary, only certain Draw and Appleworks 6 Word and Spreadsheet documents are usable under Mac OS X 10.7 and up without added software. Virtualization of Windows, or Mac OS X 10.6.8 server presents solutions that allow the use of Appleworks on machines. That can't run 10.6.8 natively. This is a Natural-ish makeup look that I love-not too much powder, foundation, or concealerlight layers that come together and look good but not too heavy.

Kākāpō/takahē[edit]

The New Zealand Wikipedian at Large, User:Giantflightlessbirds, worked with the kākāpō/takahē recovery team in Invercargill, December 3–7 2018, to improve the coverage of both species.

To Do

• Get kākāpō and takahē team to make notes on a Google Docs version of each Wikipedia article
• Improve each article following suggestions, using up-to-date sources (e.g. for kākāpō) including NZ Geographic and Stuff articles (and other sources: 1)

NZTCS update[edit]

Threatened NZ species on Wikipedia currently display badges showing their TCS category, but the version used is years out of date. It is possible to display both the IUCN and TCS categories on a species' article, but this is almost never done. The category needs to be updated, and rolled out to NZ threatened species articles, especially Critter of the Week.

To Do

• Create new graphics for the TSC category that use D, R, Rel, and NU categories rather than the old SD, GD, Sp, and RR ones.
• Make subcategories for former and foreign translations of the graphics.
• Replace the current graphics where possible, archiving the former versions under a different name (so they can be shown in the status documentation).
• Create a DD status, similar to IUCN3.1
• Edit New Zealand Threat Classification System to show both schema, and explain the differences between the original and the current system, referencing SAP244.
• Update Wikipedia's TCS template to match the current Threat Classification System, showing the status as text and a link to NZ TCS (this will require Taxobox template editing by an admin: see 10 March 2018 request.
• Organise a public volunteer 'Wikiblitz for Threatened Species' to update all the articles currently using the system. Check NZ species and display both IUCN and TCS categories, using the fields status2, status2_system, and status2_ref. A copy-and-paste reference list for the current TCS status for each species would be great, or a link to the unique URL for the online version.
• Check the species listed in the DOC Draft Threatened Species Strategy for classifications.

Critter of the Week[edit]

The Critter of the Week (CotW) project has been a great science outreach success, and Wikipedia support has been an important part of that. Currently the 'critters' discussed each week have their Wikipedia presence enhanced at short notice by an ad hoc team of volunteers. The goal is to set up a CotW Task Force, with editors actively recruited and asked to commit to assisting each week. The Task Force will liaise with DOC's CotW coordinator in scheduling critters ahead of time, with time to source photos and research new articles when needed. The Task Force would also promote CotW on social media. Volunteers could receive small rewards for continued dedicated participation: a virtual Critter medal, or even DOC or RNZ merchandise such as a Critter teatowel.

Step 1. Open 'Finder' on your Mac, then head to 'Go' > 'Go to Folder'.

Step 2. Type: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery and click 'Go'.

Step 3. Open the AutoRecovery folder, locate all the files that start with the words 'AutoRecovery save of'. Select the one you want to recover, rename the file, then add the '.doc' filename extension.

Step 4. Double-click the file. The document now opens in Word for Mac.

Step 5. Click the File menu and select 'Save As'. Type a new name for the file into the Name field, select a folder for the file and click the 'Save' button.

#2. Recover Unsaved Word Documents on Mac from TMP Folder

The Word for Mac saves a copy of the unsaved document named as Word Work File in the Temporary folder. Your Mac also temporarily keep files in this folder. Though for many Mac users, it's not easy to find it.

Step 2. In Terminal, enter open $TMPDIR and you will be directed to the TMP folder which is used to keep files temporarily.

The Word for Mac temporarily saves documents that the user has not yet saved themselves in a folder named 'Recovered items', located in the Trash. If there are no recovered files, this folder will not appear.
